Amila is a Barrister and Solicitor practicing in Surrey in the areas of immigration law, family law and civil litigation. She was called to the Bar of the Law Society of British Columbia in 2021 after successfully completing the Law Society admission program. Although a newcomer to the legal profession in Canada she has already established a remarkable clientele owing to the wealth of knowledge and experience she brings from 10 years of legal practice back in her home country as an Attorney at Law.
Amila obtained her Bachelor of Laws award from the University of London before earning her Master of Laws in International Commercial Law from the University of West London. Her academic foundation is further underpinned by a Master of Business Administration from the Edith Cowan University Australia and she is also a passed finalist of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
Adding to her repertoire of legal experience Amila has over 8 years of experience in teaching contract law, criminal law, commercial law, tort law, trust law and other areas of law. She was a lecturer for the University of London LLM and LLB programs and the University of Staffordshire LLB program. Amila also lectured at the Sri Lanka Law College which is the only Legal Institution where one can enrol as an Attorney-at-Law in Sri Lanka.
Hailing from a family of judges and lawyers Amila is the ideal legal practitioner. Her passion is to provide tailor made legal solutions to suit people from all walks of life strictly adhering to the principles of the profession. She is committed to continue her work in a new frontier with determination and it is undoubtful that this is far from impossible considering her vast knowledge of the law from diverse systems.
